Program Presentation
The stricto sensu Graduate Program in Dentistry (PPGOD) from the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) School of Dentistry (FO) offers Master’s (ME) and Doctoral (DO) degrees in different knowledge fields. It also offers postdoctoral internships in Dentistry (PNPD-CAPES Program).
The Master’s Program in Dentistry started in 1982. It is intended to expand technical-scientific knowledge and to prepare for higher education and scientific research activities. Currently, we offer seven different knowledge fields: Oral and maxillofacial surgery, Restorative dentistry, Endodontics, Pediatric dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics.
As a consequence of the Program’s growth, the Doctorate Program in Dentistry started in 1999. The program aims to train researchers and highly qualified professionals for scientific research and the development of strategies to improve the quality of life of the community or region where they will be inserted. We offer six knowledge fields: Restorative dentistry, Endodontics, Pediatric dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics.
The PPGOD maintains collaborative projects and internship with several national and international universities and research institutes. As part of the international cooperation program, our students have the opportunity to develop studies in recognized excellence institutions abroad through the Doctorate-Sandwich Abroad Program (PDSE-CAPES).
Since 2010, the program has maintained a reputation of national excellence (Grade 5) by CAPES, a government agency linked to the Ministry of Education.
